Intel and Altera announced on June 1, 2015 that they have reached a final agreement under which Intel will acquire Altera. The transaction was completed on December 28, 2015. This acquisition combines Intel's leading products and manufacturing processes with Altera's leading field programmable array (FPGA) technology. This combination enables new products to meet the customer needs of the data center and IoT segmented markets.
